England Rugby Sevens: RFU to combine males
The Rugby Soccer Union is to combine its males’s and ladies’s sevens programmes to be able to create a “robust tradition and identification”.
The ladies’s squad will transfer from their current base at Bisham Abbey to affix the lads at England’s Excessive Efficiency Centre at The Lensbury in Teddington.
The transfer will permit the squads to “share services and greatest apply”.
“The women and men can be taught a lot from one another,” stated Simon Amor, head of England Sevens and males’s head coach.

The 2018-19 season is the qualifying season for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with each squads set to compete within the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Collection and the World Rugby Sevens Collection.
As a part of the combination, Charlie Hayter and James Rodwell will grow to be player-coaches and can work with each squads, whereas former England Sevens captain John Brake rejoins the programme as academy supervisor and a males’s and ladies’s coach.
“Charlie and James’ understanding of the sevens sport of their respective areas is world class,” Amor added.
